About Us

The most supportive break-up community

Women who have been through break-ups and are here to make yours easier!

The founders as children

Our Story

Split Happens was created by sisters who, over many years, found themselves unprepared for their own divorces. Tired of "You-Tubing" their way through a process fraught with financial, custodial, and emotional consequences, they set out to change this experience for others. Along the way they "adopted" some "sisters from other misters" who shared their passion to make this process a little easier by providing a safe and welcoming space for people to share their stories and find helpful resources.

Why wing it when you can split smart?

As a life-long entrepreneur I'm driven to build solutions to real world problems. After going through a divorce after 25 years of marriage (felt like 50!), I experienced how overwhelming the process can be. Where do you start? Who do you trust? How to find the information and resources you need? Most importantly, where do I find others who have gone through this who can save me time, pain and expense? Since there seemed to be no "one stop shop" to help me navigate the break-up process, I decided to create one with Split Happens!

I’m freshly divorced, yes, at 65, and I’m the first to admit I have made many mistakes along the way. After a 47-year career in behavioral health, I’m now putting my own experiences (the good, the bad, and the "what was I thinking?") to work. Blending hard-earned wisdom, stories from others in the same boat, and a generous splash of humor, I’m on a mission to help my fellow "Splitsisters" navigate breakups so they can survive and thrive!

As a founding member of Split Happens, I serve as the steady hand behind the scenes—keeping the moving pieces aligned, the details organized, and the mission moving forward. I experienced an early "starter marriage" when I was young, giving me a firsthand understanding of how disorienting and life-altering these transitions can be. Today, I've built a life I love—raising four kids while growing a career centered around wellness, education, and helping others make informed, empowered decisions.

As a founding member of the Split team, I bring both personal perspective and thoughtful intention to my work. Although unmarried, I’m a child of divorced parents with a unique perspective on breakups, as well as having experienced the loss of a partner. My exploration of grief, heartbreak, and recovery at a young age has given me unique and powerful insight into the identity shifts, emotional patterns, and quiet rebuilding that follow loss.

As a mom to two teenage girls, I know firsthand how much a divorce can shake an entire family. Going through my own split at 38 was one of the most overwhelming experiences of my life, and it opened my eyes to how many people are out there navigating the same thing without enough support. That's what drew me to SplitHappens. It's the resource I wish I'd had and a place where people can find real guidance, community, and the reminder that they're going to be okay.

I'm a creative and caring individual with a background in graphic design and marketing. I try to use my empathy and sense of humor to bring light to those going through hard times via the Split social media channels. From personal experience, healing from a hard break-up is a humbling journey that is best traveled with insight from a community with familiar pathways, good music, and lots of comfort food! Acceptance will always be a bittersweet crossing for better days ahead!
